With the economic recession resulting in the erosion of net worth of a number of corporates and the recent spate of flops at the box office, is the honeymoon for boutique producers and actors finally over? Producers were expecting corporate distributors to cough up obscene sums of money to acquire their product, which a number of companies (with exceptions) did. While some companies made money despite paying a high amount most of them lost heavily when some of these recent so-called biggies laid an egg. The result is that a number of big projects are on hold and many near-finished ones have no takers at that price. A number of big stars who had trebled and quadrupled their salaries to milk the corporate boom haven't seen their projects taking off or any aggressive sign-ups happening. Finally have we seen a much-needed correction in the market or is it just a cyclical thing?
